Ok, this was the best Valentine's Day weekend..... so far, in my short 27 years of existence. I went surfing, in the ocean in the middle of February! Exciting part is that I can actually catch a wave, stand up, and yes even surf... kinda.... you know (not bad for only a couple of hours). Thanks to a free surfing lesson from an old, christian, surfer dude, who was very nice but didn't really like mormonism (we had to hash a few things out). The second exciting thing is my wet suit. Those things are sooo cool. I can jump into that cold as death water and I barely feel a thing. I feel like I'm invincible when I wear it, I almost think it could stop bullets. In fact I'm tempted to wear a cape next time I'm wearing a wet suit, I think it would be appropriate. Invincibility and a silly looking spandex suit...... It's the stuff of comic books for sure.
Well, this is going to be kinda a double post, because I can't help but be reflective about Valentine's Day. I was kinda surprised because there was no depression, fits, bitterness or even wistful longing this year. I owe that to several factors. 1. I have been throwing myself into my classroom with full force and I finally feel like it is actually paying off. As lame and spinsterly as it sounds, these kids are a huge part of my purpose in life right now and they just make me happy, I really like those silly, dorky kids. And I love giving my time to try to make their lives just a little bit better. 2. ALOT of prayer. I've really focused on being completely at peace with singleness. I don't know how to do that, but God does, and He is working His magic. 3. Doing a lot of things I couldn't do If I had the responsibilities of a family... in other words, living it up and enjoying the lack of responsibility! Is it shallow of me?..... maybe, but a woman's got to do what a woman's got to do. 4. Little Benny.... if I never have kids of my own, it's ok, I'll just borrow Nina's. While she does the hard work, I just get to kick back and spoil him! 5. Everyday I write down the best thing that I did that day. Just a sentence of two in my planner, and it really helps me stay grateful (my mom's idea, she is soo smart) 6. My family and friends. Thank you guys, I really love you all. So, happy late Valentine's Day to you all!

That was so well put. I love the idea of writing down the best thing you did that day. I need to do that. Your mom IS a smarty!
