I went to an arts conference last week end. It's a wonderful feeling to be in a room with 1000 other people who think like me! Anyway one of the key note speakers was this artist named Patrick Dunning (he's from Ireland). He had the most amazing piece of art. The picture above, he has blown up to 76ft by 36ft (171 4x4 canvases) and is filling every inch with signatures of people from all around the world. He has also been documenting their stories and pictures and has put together a very entertaining and moving presentation. The mural will have 1,008,016 signatures by the end. This alone is pretty cool, but that is not all, oh noooo. On all 171 canvases, he has painted secret painting with paint that shows up under a black light, both on the front and the back. He also paints on the back of each canvas, with metal paints, images composed of morse code. He then paints over then, so the only way you can see the image is by taking an x-ray! Which, of course he does. He has even included a hidden theramin in one of his canvases. ( a theramin is an instrument that will play a certain pitch based on the proximity of the magnetic field of YOUR BODY! what? You know that crazy sound in Good Vibrations by The Beach Boys?.... that was a theramin. Anyway, but Mr. Dunning has rigged the theramin to play motorcycle sounds. So by just moving his hands around he was able to play for us, the sound of a motorcycle speeding down the road and getting pulled over by the police. That is what you call "the blues".
Anyway, it is quite amazing. and I actually got to sign it. If you look at the tip of South Africa,on the globe, you will find my John Hancock!
Anyway, it's because of pieces of art like this that I really love art.

Holy cow! That is amazing! I didn't know you could do all that with art!
