FINALLY mural is done!

This Mural took FOR-EV-ER, but it was very fun.  From June 8-until yesterday! (hence no posts in quite a while) While school was still in session my students would come to help paint.  At least 15-20 kids would show up... and it was a circus. Community members would also show up to help, and of course random kids from the park (this is the bathroom building in one of the parks)  So there was always lots of excitement.  Towards the end though I got much pickier about my help because after a kiddo would paint.. inevitably we would have to go back and repair.  (this is one reason why it took so long)  but as long as they enjoyed it was worth it... this is supposed to be their mural as much as possible.

Random kiddos and a one of my very helpful students... very cute!
This girl was with us to the bitter end and she was actually helpful, an amazing quality for an elementary schooler.  She was also completely adorable.
A BIG shout out to this woman, she helped me out A TON.  She is also one of the local cops.  I'll tell you what, she breaks stereo types to pieces, she does soo much for our kids and she is a great artist.  The local PD actually did a lot for me, including buying the paint, priming the surface and doing the final coat!
Campbell even came down to help paint.
Sarah.. couldn't have done this with out her!
Many many other people helped me out, and I'm so grateful.  It's awesome seeing how many people are out there that care and give so much, so willingly.

Ok, so here is the mural.....  I designed this with the help of one of my 7th grade classes.  We brainstormed what we thought should go in a mural.. they gave me some sketches and then I put them all together into THIS

This is the spring/childhood side.  My mom did a lot on this side, she raised the bar for all the other sides too.  thanks mommy dear!
This is the summer/young adulthood side.  we thought it very important to put a reference to graduation in here.. hence the little cap on the dude/dudette.
This is the middle age and family/fall side.   That seemingly random house is Snipes cabin.  The first cabin ever build in Yakima valley which now sits by the S-town museum.  My kids wanted some s-town history in here.  I think it's funny.
Old age/winter side.
Now that just leaves the inside of the bathroom, which I thought it would be really funny to put day of the dead skeletons (an idea from one of the kids) in there... then we would have the after life too. HA
